Today was Portugal's day!

Yes!We can say that today was Portugal's day!

My country won two new champions today, João Sousa and Rui Costa.

João Sousa is a 24 year-old professional tennis player, form Guimarães, that today won the Malaysian Open, Kuala Lumpur. He was the first portuguese winning in ATP World Tour.

João Sousa eliminated Ferrer on the Semi-finals, and played the final against Julien Benneteau (33) with the partials 2-6, 7-5 e 6-4. The young portuguese secured the best ranking place of all time for Portugal: 51.

Congratulations João Sousa!

On cycling, Rui Costa reached the world race title at the cycling world championship in Florence, Italy.
It was a two-man sprint finish between the portuguese and Joaquin Rodriguez.

Rodriguez tried to attack several times during the last lap, but Rui Costa caught him in the finishing sprint to win the most important title of his career.

The 26 year-old portuguese cyclist won three stages in Le Tour de France, one in 2011 and the two other this year and he won the Tour de Suisse also.

Congratulations Rui Costa!

Quiksilver Pro France 2013

Don't you feel the smell of chocolate croissant?

I do, and you know why? Because it is the Quiksilver Pro France 2013, the first stop of the European leg (no. 7 overall).

The two first rounds are already closed and Jordy Smith and Gabriel Medina are the men to talk about.

Jordy Smith ended the first round and drew the best average. Medina, on the second round, at Le Penon in Seignosse, and reached the best score and received the first 10 on the competition with two amazing waves that give him the chance to win the battery without any problem.

Kelly Slater, eleven-time ASP world champion, had hes back against the rope in his 1st Round with Adam Melling and Dane Reynolds. Slater failed excellent scoring opportunities almost during all the round. He finally found a cleaner, longer left with only seconds on the counter to earn a near perfect 9.23.

The swell weakened so the Quiksilver Pro 2013 had to give a 2 days off however, the organization predicts a good-looking swell in the coming days and the competition will be back tomorrow (Monday).

America's Cup 2013 Race 14 cancelled because of the strong winds

We still have to wait to see who's going to win the 2013 America's Cup.

The Race 14 was cancelled again on Saturday (21st Sept) due to the unfavorable winds in San Francisco Bay, the passage of a weather front broke up the usual summer pattern.

Both teams, Oracle Team USA and Emirates Team New Zealand, affirmed that they want good winds and a fair course for such an important race.

The race will re-run Today (Sunday 22nd Sept) with Emirates Team New Zealand one race win away from clinching the trophy.

The America's Cup score is now standing at 8-3, the Kiwis can win the America's Cup with just one more victory, on the other site, the Americans must win six successive races to avoid defeat and defend the Cup.
